Toddler Classroom
Why choose The Learning Garden for your toddler’s home away from home? The Hopper Classroom is a unique place for toddlers that are eighteen months to thirty months in age. This is a unique classroom that transforms with the children, from saying goodbye to the pacifier, learning to potty, building their coordination, vocabulary, and attention span to be ready for preschool. If you would like to learn a little more about how we, The Learning Garden, encourage age appropriate development of your toddler, read on!
Toddlers make great developmental strides from first words to potty training. Our teachers are right there to provide support in a fun and active environment during this time. The children may have appeared to “just be playing” when you visited the classroom, but did you know that “play” is children’s work? Toddlers are hard at work learning important physical skills as they gain muscle control, balance, and coordination. Each new skill lets them progress to the next one, building on a foundation that leads to more complicated physical tasks, such as jumping rope, kicking a ball on the run, or turning a cartwheel. Toddlers always want to do more, which can motivate them to keep trying until they acquire a new skill, no matter what it takes.
Our toddler days are filled full of learning possibilities. Our teachers take great pride in planning fun age appropriate activities because playing and learning are completely natural for toddlers. They give toddlers many opportunities to practice their developing skills while providing supervision so they stay safe while learning. In addition to these physical accomplishments, toddlers are developing in other ways. We provide opportunities for them to explore, ask questions, use his or her imagination, and practice fine motor skills, such as stacking blocks or coloring. Toddlers are read too often and with a variety of material that encourage language development. Toddlers need positive early learning experiences to foster their intellectual, social and emotional development and lay the foundation for later school success. In order to provide them with the consistency and routine they crave, teachers plan days filled with a balance of quiet and active activities, spirited music and movement, and plenty of outdoor fun. It’s great to be a toddler at The Learning Garden.
We understand that returning to work can be a stressful experience for a parent, that is why we encourage you to bring your child by several times to get familiar with their teacher and the classroom. Once your child has been added to the role, (first week tuition holds your spot and keeps you from having to pay on their first day) just call and let us know when you would like to stop by. The more comfortable you feel on that first day the easier the transition for you and your child. Remember we are here for you and your family anytime you have questions, please just call. Thanks again for your time and consideration of our child development center. We look forward to getting to know you better.
